Exemption Filing Deadline:  Applications for exemptions must be postmarked by March 1st.  This date is set by the NYS Real Property Tax Law.  The Town has no authority to extend the deadline.  Have you applied for your STAR Exemption?  You may be eligible for a School Property Tax Savings. If you own property and it is your primary residence, you are probably eligible for a STAR (School TAx Relief) Exemption. To get your exemption all you have to do is complete an application form and return it by Taxable Status Date (March 1st). You must include proof of residency, and ownership. Seniors are also required to provide proof of age and income for the Enhanced Star Exemption.
